Studium of Bouaké (Ivory Coast)

Studium of Bouaké (Ivory Coast)

In 2016, the Superior of the monastery in Bouaké (Côte d'Ivoire) set up a Studium for philosophical and theological training linked to the Faculty of Theology at the Catholic University of West Africa (UCAO).

An agreement has been drawn up between the Studium and the Faculty of UCAO (Catholic University of West Africa) concerning the course of study (programmes and hours), the professors of the Faculty and the diplomas.

The two-year philosophy cycle at UCAO has been extended to five years for the Studium, and a canonical bachelor's degree in theology is offered. Links have been forged with the Faculty of Philosophy at the Université Alassane Ouattara in Bouaké, in agreement with the Faculty of Philosophy at UCAO (lower travel costs).

The theology cycle runs from February to April, and the philosophy cycle from October to December. The agreement also provides for training more geared towards monastic life, as the Studium trains monks.

Initially offered to brothers in formation in Bouaké, the Studium will be open in 2019 to monks and nuns from other monasteries.
