Navajeevan Monastery was founded in 1987 by Makkiyad Monastery. The community comprises sixteen perpetually professed monks and eight temporarily professed monks.

In keeping with their tradition, the Sylvestrins are committed to community life, prayer, manual labour and hospitality. Their ministries include preaching and leading retreats, looking after a parish comprising six villages, and running a school for poor children situated five kilometres from the monastery.

The superior attaches great importance to the education and formation of the young brothers in order to build a solid foundation for his community.
