The Mindanao Benedictine and Cistercian Convention (MBCC) is a gathering of all Benedictine and Cistercian communities on the island of Mindanao. This island, located in the Philippine archipelago, is the second largest island in terms of area and population.
There are currently nine communities that are members of this gathering:
1. The Trappist monks of Guimaras, Iloilo City.
2. The Trappist nuns of Polomolok (Matutum), General Santos City.
3. The Benedictine nuns of the Eucharistic King, Cogon-Digos City.
4. The Benedictine Sisters of the Eucharistic King, Ulas, Davao City.
5. The Benedictine monks of Saint Ottilien, Digos City.
6. The Benedictine monks of Malaybalay, Congregation of Subiaco, Bukidnon City.
7. The Benedictine Missionary Sisters of Tutzing (Mati and Marihatag).
8. The Benedictine Nuns of Mother of the Church, Malaybalay, Bukidnon.
9. The Benedictine Nuns of Saint Anne, Linamon.
Members meet annually for guest lectures, to discuss monastic life and offer suggestions to help alleviate poverty, powerlessness, and economic and political instability in Philippine society and the Church. Whenever possible, they make cultural visits in the vicinity of the meeting place.
Project
The next meeting will take place from 2 to 5 May 2026 at the monastery in Malaybalay. Sixty participants are expected to attend. The theme of the meeting will be artificial intelligence.
AIM is supporting this meeting with a grant of €1,900.
