On 1 February 2019, with the accord of his General Council, Dom Diego M. Rosa, Abbot General of the Benedictine Congregation of Saint Mary of Monte Oliveto, elevated to the rank of Abbey two monasteries of the Olivetan Congregation: the Monastery of Saint Bernard Tolomei (Goseong, South Korea) and the Monastery of Holy Cross (Rostrevor, Northern Ireland).

On 26 February 2019, Dom Giacomo Ryu, hitherto Conventual Prior, was elected first Abbot of the Abbey of St Bernard Tolomei.

On 9 March 2019, Dom Mark-Ephrem M. Nolan, hitherto Conventual Prior, was elected first Abbot of Holy Cross Abbey.

This year the Olivetan Congregation celebrates the seventh centenary of its Archabbey, Monte Oliveto Maggiore, founded on 26 March 1319. To mark this important date, and to signify the mystery of communion which is a hallmark of the Olivetan charism, Dom Diego M. Rosa, Ordinary and Territorial Abbot of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, will confer the Abbatial Blessing upon the two new Abbots together at the Archabbey on 26 March 2019.
