TAIWAN - Benedictines of East Asia and Oceania (BEAO)
Project 6607 - Meeting of Superiors
The BEAO is a gathering of Benedictines of East Asia and Oceania. It includes the communities of South Korea, the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam, Australia, etc. The meeting occurs every two years in a different place in order to discover the cultural and spiritual diversity of the different nations represented. The meetings always include reports from each region to provide information on the various communities, reports of other international organisations such as the AIM, DIMMID (Interreligious Monastic Dialogue).
The twelfth meeting of BEAO was held 26-30 November, 2018, in the monastery of Tanshui (Taiwan). This year Abbot Primate Gregory Polan will participate in the meeting, and also the President of AIM, Dom Jean-Pierre Longeat, Dom Mark Butlin, member of the International Team of AIM. The opening Mass will be celebrated by the representative of the Vatican, Mgr Sladen Cosic.
In the course of the meeting the Vice-President, Chen Chien-jen, will give an address, entitled ‘My experiences as a Catholic in government service and the relationships between Taiwan, Korea and the Philippines’.
